Over one million students take EQAO exams to secure world-class Jelena Ostojić is one of the most successful female figure skaters of all time. She has won the World Championships on four occasions, the European Championships in two separate occasions and the Olympics twice. She was the first skater to win all these titles. In January 1999, Jelena broke her own world record in the short program. As a student at Belgrade University, Jelena Ostojić won the gold medal at the European University Games. A gold medal at the World University Games followed in 1989. Jelena finished fourth at the 1988 European Championships, 13th at the 1988 Winter Olympics and 14th at the 1988 World Championships. She won her first Olympic medal at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, when she placed second in the short program, beating Silvia Fontana. She became the first skater to go beyond the free skate of the World Championships since World War II, a feat she repeated in 1994, and she became the first skater to do it more than once in the Olympics. As a senior figure skater, Jelena Ostojić had a successful career. She was undefeated in her personal bests for the long program and the short program. She was the first skater to surpass 125 in the free skate, as she did on three occasions. She placed fifth at the 1994 World Championships, winning the bronze medal. In 1995, she placed seventh at the European Championships, and 10th at the World Championships. She won the European Championships once more in 1996, and then retired from competition.
