A Healthy Escape

Hey Vic City,

We all have our own story of how we found CrossFit, and why we make it a priority in our own lives. CrossFit is not only a great method for developing life changing fitness, but also as an escape, a healthy escape. Even many CrossFit Games athlete's started doing CrossFit for a way to become healthier and live a better life.

A year or so ago, I shared the story of Travis Williams, now multiple time Games' athlete, who was around 270 pounds when he first got into CrossFit. He used the methods to get fit and beat his struggle with obesity.

2013 Games' athlete Matt Hathcock got into CrossFit to have a structured outlet after battling a drug and alcohol problem.

Even Rich Froning Sr., the father of Rich Froning - Fittest in History - admitted that the structure of sports helped Rich growing up to stay focused in school as he had a "touch of ADHD"

Regardless of why we are here, the important thing is that we ARE here. We can use CrossFit as a safe outlet for stress, anxiety, depression and many other things. It can be an escape from the challenges in our daily life. At CrossFit there is always someone or something to brighten your day.

Maybe you are dreading Monday, as you come to the 6am class Hank greets you at the door, putting a smile on your face. Maybe it's your coach telling you "good work" after you gave it your all during the WOD. Or maybe it's as simple as someone saying "see you tomorrow" and although you might have to struggle through another tough day, CrossFit will always be there for you when you walk back in that door.

Remember why you started, and all the people that have had a positive impact on your life. Also know that you have made a positive impact on many people's lives too, all because you decided you wanted to try CrossFit.

Take care and enjoy the week.

Adam
