CrossFit Invitational 2017
Hey Vic City,
The CrossFit Invitational is an annual event that, like the Games, has continued to develop over the years. In 2012, the Invitational featured Team USA vs. Team Europe. With USA dominating the inaugural competition, it was changed to be USA vs. the World in 2013, with team World upsetting the United States. Since 2014, the format now features four teams - USA, Canada, Europe, and Pacific - each comprised of 2 men and 2 women, who will battle it out for the title. Team USA won it all in 2014 and 2015. In 2016, the event was hosted in Canada, however, the Canadian team ending up placing last, and Europe took their first victory.
In 2017, Team Canada brings back 3 out of 4 members from their 2016 roster, combining two podium male athletes, Brent Fikowski and Patrick Vellner, with Games veterans, Carol-Ann Reason-Thibault and Alessandra Pichelli.
All the action this year will take place in Australia, and the one-day competition happens on Saturday, November 4th at 10pm PST. You can stream the action live online on games.crossfit.com or on the CrossFit YouTube channel.
Here is a quick interview with Brent Fikowski talking CrossFit Invitational.
Enjoy!
