CrossFit, HQ, and Us

Hello all,

As you may be aware, there is some turmoil in the CrossFit world at the moment. Affiliates are taking a variety of directions in response and I thought we should convey to you all what our stance is as a CrossFit gym.

I'll open with what I posted online previously:

At its heart, Crossfit truly is about community... coming together both locally and globally to unite towards greater fitness and health. As affiliates, we operate independently of any oversight or direction from CrossFit HQ. The qualities that you see every time you come in to Vic City - inclusion, support, and cameraderie have not and will not change - it is who we are. Walk through those doors and you are one of us. We will never condone any bigotry to any person but instead will operate with openness, equality, and love.

I also strongly believe that it is impossible to enact true change by leaving a tough situation. From all of my interactions with thousands of affiliate owners both in person and online, I believe there is a critical mass of people that are willing to help move forward and help correct what has happened. We NEED good people to stand by, work together, and unite towards the common core values of inclusion and equality.

With over 10,000 affiliates worldwide, the "community" of CrossFit has more power to induce positive health and fitness change than any other fitness movement. We have the power to lobby both local and national governments, combat corporate giants like "big soda", and share our knowledge of how to move and live better. We also have a voice when it comes to communicating with HQ and working towards solutions with them. 10,000 independent gyms that are focused on their own local membership do not have that power.

On the affiliate owners level, several things are already in motion regarding how best to work together. This includes focus groups for owners who are visible minorities, and collaboration between owners to develop strategies to move forwards. This has all been initiated by the community/owners, which gives me great hope going forwards.

So we will remain affiliated for now. We will breathe, reflect, and think of ways that we can improve our OWN service. At the same time, I will be active as an affiliate owner working towards change in the overall organization of CrossFit.

Thank you all for your support and understanding, both of which have already been stretched by the virus alone. If you want to reach out to share some of your feelings with me directly please do so and I will do my best to respond in a timely manner.

See you soon

TRAINING MONDAY - TUESDAY

YELLOW GRIDS

WARM UP:

3 rounds:

2 slow samson stretches

3 slow inchworms with pushup

4 lying thoracic rotations per side

5 pole squats with pause at the bottom

SKILL: ALTERNATING EMOM X 6 EACH:

MINUTE 1: 1 THRUSTER

MINUTE 2: 3-5 FRONT SQUATS

Choose a weight that is the same for both movements, and go lighter than you think you need to. You can always build as you go, but if you go too hard at the beginning, you're going to fall apart technically!

at home: alternate between DB Snatch (2-4 per arm) and DB goblet squats (5-8 reps)

WOD:

AMRAP 12 MIN

ESCALATING REPS OF:

AMERICAN KBS

TOES TO BAR / HANGING KNEE RAISES

DOUBLE UNDERS (X 20 REPS)

Start at 2 reps then add 2 reps each round. DOUBLE UNDERS STAY AT 20 REPS AFTER EACH ROUND

Record your score as your total rounds of kbs and toes to bar (I don't think I can add it any other way in BTWB).

Scale up by using a heavier KB or doing KB clean and jerks OR KB snatches
