21.1 Live Announcement

Hey Team,


A staple of previous Opens was the "live announcement". Every week, crossfitters around the globe would tune in at 5pm pacific time to get the live official reveal of the workout. Increasing the draw was the fact that two (or more) top crossfit athletes would be taking on the workout within 15-20 minutes of hearing what it was!


These announcements were super exciting and I'm really happy that they have re-started them for the 2021 Open! The very first one (21.1) is being released on Thursday March 11 (i.e. two days from now) at 5pm... and it features two outstanding athletes - Kari Pearce and Kristi Eramo.


These women will go head to head on whatever comes down the pipe from Dave Castro and the Open programming team. It may not be representative of what most of us will encounter in the workout as these athletes are incredibly talented... however it will be fun to watch them take it on!

TRAINING WEDNESDAY - THURSDAY


WARM UP




SKILL WOD 1: ROW + DU AMRAP


Keep that engine running with a lower mechanical load workout! In bigger classes you may end up doing this wod second.


AMRAP 10 mins of:

Row 20/14 cals

30 double unders


FG2: scale doubles to 10 du + 20 singles

FG1: scale to 45 single skips per round



SKILL WOD 2: TTB + PISTOL PRACTICE


If you have sore knees (or they get sore from pistols), sub in box jumps or step ups. We don't need to aggravate your joints this close to 21.1


Alt EMOM x 5 each:


TTB x 8 (scale reps as needed)

Pistols x8 (scale reps as needed)


Scale to hanging knee raise and pistols to a box.

Just keep it relatively low key as we don't know what 21.1 will bring!
