Functional Mobility, Core, and Yoga
Hey Team,
The Athlete Centre, a multi-disciplinary clinic located here in Victoria (across the street!) and some of their Certified Athletic Therapists offer online classes that focus on movement quality and education. Their classes include Functional Mobility, Core and Yoga - which would typically be offered in small-group settings but that were transitioned online in the Spring.
They are offering complementary online programming to us to supplement the intense crossfit training that we do. These classes also encourage us to spend time on the areas that support injury mitigation and variance of movement during this time. This is what they do best, so they'd like to offer a value-add to us by extending access to these classes while things look a little different in the gym. If you are interested click on the links below to learn more about their offerings and to access 6 weeks of the following classes! Also, some words from Sarah Black on their live Functional Mobility classes this month:

We are opening up our Functional Mobility classes by donation for the month of December with all proceeds going to the Gift of Good Food fundraiser. Functional Mobility is not your average stretching class. Led by Sarah Black, you’ll learn how to achieve, and strengthen, new ranges of motion that you can access in your training and day-to-day activities to optimize movement and mitigate injury risk. Classes are Sundays at 9:30am via Zoom. Please register for classes here: http://www.athletecentre.ca/functional-mobility/ Donations can be made via e-transfer to sarah@athletecentre.ca. Suggested donation $10-$20 per class. Learn more about our holiday Charity of Choice: The Gift of Good Food raises money to provide fresh fruits and vegetables for an entire year to families facing poverty throughout the Greater Victoria region. They partner with 15 community centres, transition houses, and local First Nations in order to provide The Gift of Good Food to families who are in need of consistent, healthy produce for their children. https://thegoodfoodbox.ca/donate This year due to COVID-19 they need your support more than ever to help vulnerable populations facing food insecurity. Every $500 raised provides a family with a Good Food Box Victoria every two weeks for a year. Good Food Boxes are picked up by recipients at participating locations, with other Good Food Box customers. Our goal is to raise $1000!
So check them out team, and I'm sure your bodies and minds will benefit!
